Baseline Power System
Of Shunyata Research's three unique power systems, the Baseline power system delivers the best value to performance ratio by measurably reducing the peak-current resistance that exists in stock or commodity-made power systems. In addition, the Venom 3 power cords offer 100% coverage shielding to isolate the power cords from noise that saturates the area around electronic power supplies. Replacing stock power cords and cheap power strips can be the most critical aspect of building a true high-performance home entertainment system. The Baseline system is the most cost-effective way to accomplish this, yet yields performance rewards that far outweigh its modest price. The startling improvements in background silence and resolution offered by the Baseline power system are what has earned Shunyata Research its reputation as the world's preeminent manufacturer of high-performance power systems. This system can be improved through upgrading the power cord on the amplifier, power distributor or critical source components to one of the power cords from the Performance power system.

Performance Power System
The Performance System power cords are designed to address the specific needs of different types of electronics, whether the components are amplifiers, digital sources or sensitive analog or video equipment. The Hydra HC was designed for high-current power distributors such as the Hydra and for high-current amplifiers. SideWinder VTX is the ideal complement for all line-level electronics including digital and analog sources as well as recording electronics. The top video source power cord remains the Venom 3 due to its 100% shielding which isolates projectors and video screens from the high-frequency noise radiated by video sources. Finishing this system are the Hydra-α Series Model-2, Model-4 and Model-6, which can exactly match the number of dedicated lines as well as the nummber of outlets required for electronics. To increase the performance of this system, substitute one Cobra power cord for the Hydra connection to the wall. To increase the value of this system substitute Venom 3 power cords for non-critical source or line-level electronics.

Reference Power System
Unlike the vast majority of "Reference Power Systems", Shunyata offers options that are incomparable in terms of performance but do not cost as much as the electronics themselves. This system's greatest feature are the Cobra power cords. While not inexpensive, they perform at a "cost no object" level. When assembled as a system along with a Hydra Triton, Hydra Talos (and depending on dedicated line-layout, a two outlet Hydra Cyclops), this system represents the pinnacle of power system performance. Adding a Python or Anaconda model power cord to a Hydra Triton, Talos or Cyclops will enhance this already perfect system. Adding yet another Anaconda or Python to amplifiers or key source components takes this to an extreme. Our suggestion however is to start with the Cobra System with the appropriate Reference Hydra models. You may never need to consider more expensive options, no matter how big your budget or how critically you value top performance.
